Ask M Famous – The Dreaded Stretch Marks
Happy Wednesday – How is everyone doing?!
The Ask M Famous question this week comes from a dear friend of mine who is preggers and due in November. I just love her! In conversation over frozen yogurt, which just happens to be her caving of the month, she begged me to help her with her morbid fear of the dreaded stretch marks. BTW, if you have a burning question, please feel free to share it with me. Email your questions to, askmfamous@christophermacken.com
So here we go, “Do creams, oils, etc. really work to prevent stretch marks?”
Well now, this question is one that I had to research. The odds of me ever becoming “with child” are about as good as me ever knowing what baseball team is favored to win the Super Bowl! But alas, I digress…
What I have found thus far is this: If you want to keep your belly from looking like a satellite image of the desert taken from the Hubble Telescope, check out this product…
Not only does this product claim that it works, but some of the most famous pregnant celebs have used it to regain their taut figures. Angelina Jolie, Heidi Klum, Trista Sutter, Melania Trump and Jennifer Garner have all reportedly used this product and given it rave reviews.
Still many articles do insist that stretch marks are inherited, and try as you may, you will either get them or not. I find this hard to believe, because I feel that it is a matter of your skin’s elasticity that gives it the ability to bounce back from child birth better than Brittany Spears in her last come back tour.
One thing that I absolutely must press to you is that topical creams and oils only do a fraction of the work. You must drink your recommended dose of water and be sure that your diet is well-balanced as prescribed by your OBGYN. I have never been to an OBGYN, but I would assume that the stirrups are only half of the experience. I am sure they would walk you through every aspect of reproducing, which would include the proper diet for a woman that is about to bring a life into the world.
I make many jokes and can be fairly sarcastic about things. However, let me be clear; women are such incredible creatures! We owe you much credit! You are the builder of families. The ones that birth not only a child but the future of our nations and thus our world. My hat is off to you. I have a hard enough time feeding myself much less a small mouth. So, I hope that I have answered your question as best I could. Remember, if you in fact end up with stretch marks, they are just God’s sweet way of showing the world that you created a miracle! If you can’t prevent them, please be proud of them. Women ROCK!

Christopher Macken

We met through Mrs. Stone when we were visiting a few months ago.
I love your blog!
However, I must say that during my first pregnancy I used coco butter religously. Constantly through out my whole pregnancy and it did not help me much. My mom got them, and so did I. My OB did say that the use of the product did help soften the appearance of the horrible little lines. So that is a positive.
Either way, love your information on here!

Had 2 children. Used regular lotion, vasoline lotion mainly, never got any stretch marks with either one by doing this at least once daily!
